dBrota is the alias for central Indiana-based multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer, and composer Michael DeBrota. The stylized "dB" is a reference to the capitalized B in Michael's surname DeBrota, as well as the abbreviation for the decibel (dB), a unit of sound intensity.

Michael's deep appreciation for and interest in music began in early childhood through taking piano lessons, but developed over time as Michael participated in his school's jazz band and choral ensembles and took advantage of various other performance opportunities.

Since first publishing his compositions on SoundCloud in 2013, dBrota has developed a unique and sophisticated style consisting of lush, multifaceted melodic pieces with a variety of stylistic and artistic influences, ranging anywhere from EDM to jazz, R&B, funk, soul, orchestral, alternative rock, and pop. His compositions are currently available on a variety of streaming platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, Bandcamp, Clyp, and more.
